amalthea — A shipment of humanitarian aid to Gaza, part of the Amalthea project, is scheduled to arrive later this evening. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has confirmed that it will be unloaded on Monday morning.
Weighing in at 1,200 tons, this significant aid delivery will first be received by the UN Office for Project Services (UNOPS) before it is handed over to World Central Kitchen for distribution. This operation, which commenced at the port of Limassol on August 18, is aligned with the United Nations mechanism UN-2720 and is being coordinated through UNOPS, ensuring a streamlined process for the delivery of essential supplies.
The shipment is of particular importance as it aims to provide crucial support to those in need within Gaza. Upon arrival at Ashdod port, the aid will be transported directly to Gaza without undergoing any additional security checks, as previously arranged by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
This operation underscores Cyprus’ ongoing commitment to humanitarian efforts in the region, showcasing the collaborative work being done to alleviate the suffering of those affected by the ongoing crisis.
