- The 30-year-old Turkish Cypriot, who was suspected of acquiring access to child pornography, has been released after investigators found no incriminating evidence on his mobile phone.
- The case file has now been sent to the Law Office for further evaluation and potential instructions regarding the next steps in the legal process.
Following a brief detention, the suspect was brought before the Nicosia District Court last Friday, where authorities issued a three-day detention order for further investigation. The police acted on allegations that he had accessed illegal content.
In a cooperative effort, the suspect handed over his mobile device along with the necessary codes to investigators, allowing them to unlock the phone using facial recognition technology. This step was critical in determining the validity of the claims against him.
Upon examination, the contents of the phone revealed no evidence linking him to the alleged offences. As a result, he was formally charged in writing and released at one o’clock on Sunday afternoon, according to the Police Press Office.
The case file has now been sent to the Law Office for further evaluation and potential instructions regarding the next steps in the legal process.
