Police have made a significant drug bust in Trachoni, seizing 23 kilograms of cannabis during a coordinated operation. This major effort took place on Wednesday in the Limassol district, underscoring ongoing efforts to combat drug trafficking in the region.
- The arrested individual is scheduled to appear in court on Monday, 8 December, as investigations continue into the broader implications of this significant seizure.
The operation was a collaboration between the Drug Law Enforcement Unit (YKAN) based in Nicosia and the Akrotiri British Bases Police. In addition to the cannabis, officers discovered 250 grams of a substance suspected to be cocaine and 26 grams of methamphetamine.
During the search, authorities also seized two vehicles believed to be associated with the drug activities. This comprehensive approach aims to dismantle the networks that facilitate the distribution of illicit substances.
Assistant Chief of Police for the British Bases, Melina Papagregoriou, commented on the operation, stating, “The operation represents another blow against organised criminal networks attempting to channel dangerous drugs into local communities.” Her remarks highlight the ongoing commitment of law enforcement to protect the community from the impacts of drug-related crime.
