kofinou robbery — kofinou robbery — Three individuals are facing serious charges in connection with the robbery and abduction of a 65-year-old man in Kofinou. The Larnaca District Court has remanded two Greek Cypriots, aged 32 and 42, along with a 44-year-old Greek national, for six days as investigations continue.
The incident unfolded last Monday when the victim, who reported the crime to police, met with two acquaintances in Kofinou. During this meeting, the 42-year-old suspect allegedly assaulted the victim, taking €300 in cash, a mobile phone, and car keys.
Following the assault, the suspects forced the victim into a vehicle driven by the third individual, whose identity was previously unknown. They then transported him to a location where the victim stores metal objects. Here, they reportedly seized the victim’s car keys and loaded a quantity of copper into the vehicle before fleeing.
In the wake of the incident, police secured arrest warrants for the main suspects. A coordinated operation by CID Nicosia led to their apprehension in the Nicosia district, where the 44-year-old was also identified as the driver involved in the abduction.
Notably, the two Greek Cypriots had previously sold the victim various items, which were later discovered to be stolen. Police recovered these stolen goods from the victim’s premises, leading to a separate case of theft and receiving stolen goods against all three suspects, which is currently being processed by the Larnaca District Court.
Both of the Greek Cypriot suspects have a history of police involvement, with records of prior burglary and theft cases. The court’s decision to remand them highlights the seriousness of the charges they now face.
