The driver was attempting to transport 27 cartons of cigarettes, totalling 5,400 units, which were found to lack the necessary Greek and Turkish health warnings. This absence indicates that the cigarettes were untaxed and in violation of local regulations.

In addition to the cigarettes, officers also seized 25 litres of kefir, a dairy product, which is strictly prohibited from being transported across the Green Line due to regulations aimed at preventing the movement of animal products.

The Romanian national was arrested for the offences detected during the inspection. Following the arrest, both the contraband items and the vehicle used in the transport were confiscated. The individual was later released after agreeing to an out-of-court settlement, which included a fine of €1,700 and an additional €300 fee for the return of the vehicle.
