The Paralimni-Deryneia municipality has installed ten additional feeding shelters for stray cats, enhancing its commitment to animal welfare. The announcement, made on Sunday, highlighted the generous contribution from local veterinarian Panayiotis Tsoukkas, owner of the Furry Friends Veterinary Clinic in Paralimni.
Tsoukkas’s donation was warmly received by the municipality, which praised it as “a beautiful gesture that demonstrates in practice a love for animals.” This initiative reflects the local council’s ongoing efforts to ensure that stray animals are well-fed, safe, and cared for.
“We continue our animal welfare actions tirelessly so that our four-legged friends can live safely, well-fed and loved,” the municipality stated, reinforcing its dedication to improving the lives of stray cats in the area.
In a separate move, the municipality also announced plans to upgrade the public space surrounding the roundabout near the district land registry office in Paralimni. The redesign aims to create a more visually appealing landmark for the community.
The centrepiece of this project will be a traditional agricultural windmill, which is intended to serve as a symbol of the municipality. Surrounding the windmill will be a circular water installation featuring jets of water that will rise and fall, illuminated with alternating colours for a spectacular visual effect.
The landscaping will also include greenery and flowers, further enhancing the aesthetic appeal of the area. This effort aligns with the municipality’s broader goal of creating welcoming and enjoyable public spaces for residents and visitors alike.
