Motorcyclist Killed in Motorway Crash While Avoiding Dog

A 55-year-old motorcyclist was killed on Sunday morning in a tragic crash on the motorway near Skarinou. The victim has been identified as Christos Siayilos, a resident of Geri.

The accident occurred around 8.30 am when a group of approximately ten motorcyclists was travelling along the motorway. As the group rode, the second-to-last motorcyclist attempted to avoid a dog that had been struck by an earlier vehicle. In his effort to evade the animal, he lost control of his chopper-type motorcycle and fell onto the road.

Unfortunately, the last motorcyclist in the line did not notice him in time and collided with him, resulting in fatal injuries. Emergency services quickly arrived at the scene, and Siayilos was transported to Larnaca General Hospital. Despite medical efforts, he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.

In the wake of the collision, Larnaca traffic police issued an arrest warrant for the 61-year-old motorcyclist who struck Siayilos. The authorities are currently conducting a thorough investigation to determine the precise circumstances surrounding this devastating incident.
