Cyprus startups are being encouraged to take part in the MWC Open Innovation Challenge 2026, an international initiative aimed at fostering collaboration between technology providers and corporate entities.

Organised by ACCIÓ, a division of the Catalan Government’s Ministry of Enterprise and Labour, the challenge will focus on co-creating solutions for pressing technological needs. The Enterprise Europe Network (EEN) Cyprus has disseminated this invitation to local small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and startups through the chamber of commerce, which acts as the EEN coordinator on the island.

Mwc open: Connecting Innovators with Corporates

This challenge presents a unique opportunity for Cypriot startups to engage with international companies seeking innovative technologies. The event is part of the Mobile World Congress (MWC) and the 4YFN Congress taking place in Barcelona, which is renowned for its focus on mobile and tech innovation.

Flexible Participation Options

Participants can choose how to engage: they may attend in person, join online, or opt for a hybrid approach that suits their business needs. The physical B2B meetings are scheduled from March 2 to March 5, 2026, at the ACCIÓ Stand in Hall 8 during the 4YFN Congress.

For those unable to attend the event in person, online B2B meetings will be conducted via the b2match platform from March 9 to March 13, 2026. This flexibility allows a broader range of startups to participate, regardless of location.

Structured Meetings for Effective Collaboration

The meetings are designed for focused, 30-minute sessions, providing a structured environment for startups and corporates to assess potential collaborations based on specific business needs. This format aims to facilitate quick and effective discussions that could lead to meaningful partnerships.

Registration and Participation Requirements

To take part in the challenge, businesses must register as technology or solution providers and create a detailed company profile, which should include a concise pitch, a professional biography, and a comprehensive list of their technological capabilities. Notably, only one representative per company can register on the platform, although additional attendees are welcome during the actual meetings.

Once a profile is validated, participants can start requesting meetings with corporates whose challenges align with their areas of expertise. The corporates will review the applicant profiles to determine final acceptance and meeting schedules, ensuring that the most relevant matches are made.

Anticipating a Vibrant Exchange of Ideas

The MWC Open Innovation Challenge 2026 is anticipated to be a vibrant platform for innovation, where Cypriot startups can showcase their technological prowess and connect with key decision-makers from large organisations and public entities. The collaborative atmosphere promises to cultivate an environment ripe for innovation and growth.
