The event, held during the association’s annual business dinner, featured awards presented to Eurobank and Petrolina for their contributions to bilateral economic ties.

Cyprus-greece business: Acknowledging Significant Contributions
Eurobank was honoured for its major investment in Cyprus through the acquisition of Hellenic Bank, a move that underscores its commitment to the Cypriot market. The award was presented by Kyriakos Iordanou, director general of the Ministry of Energy, Commerce and Industry. Michalis Louis, the chief executive officer of Eurobank, accepted the award and spoke about the importance of this investment for the bank and for Cyprus.

Petrolina’s Expansion in Greece
Petrolina received recognition for its strategic expansion into the Greek fuel station market. The award was presented by Dimitris Skalkos, secretary general for International Economic Affairs and Extroversion of the Greek Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Dinos Lefkaritis, the chief executive officer of Petrolina, highlighted the significance of this investment as part of the company’s growth strategy.
Celebrating Two Decades of Cooperation
This year’s dinner was particularly special as it marked the twentieth anniversary of the Cyprus-Greece Business Association. A message from President Nikos Christodoulides emphasised the importance of strengthening economic ties between the two nations. Iosif Iosif, president of the association, reflected on the organisation’s two decades of activity, stating that combining strengths can unlock opportunities in emerging markets such as the Arab world and the Balkans.

Dimitris Skalkos also commented on the increasing investments between Cyprus and Greece, noting that the current environment is ripe with new opportunities for both nations. Philokypros Roussounides, secretary general of the Cyprus Chamber of Commerce and Industry, praised the association’s role in fostering collaboration and outlined potential new sectors for future partnership.

The dinner was well-attended by prominent figures, including the Ambassador of Greece to Cyprus, Konstantinos Kollias, alongside state officials, business leaders, and supporters of the association. This gathering not only celebrated past successes but also set the stage for future collaborations.
