The Cyprus Industrial Production Index has shown remarkable growth, climbing to 111.2 units in November 2025, marking an impressive 8.5% increase from the same month last year, according to the Cyprus Statistical Service (Cystat).
- Yet, there were some areas of decline. The manufacturing of textiles, wearing apparel, and leather products fell by 1.2%, as did the production of paper and paper products.
This notable rise is based on a 2021 reference year, which Cystat established at 100 units. The upward trend is not just limited to November; the index has recorded an overall increase of 3.7% from January 1 to November 30, 2025, compared to the same period in 2024.
The manufacturing sector has been the leading contributor to this growth, showing a significant increase of 9.6% compared to November 2024. This sector includes various industries, but standout performances were noted in the manufacturing of other non-metallic mineral products, which surged by a staggering 83.6% year-on-year.
Other areas of industrial production also experienced gains. Mining and quarrying saw a dramatic rise of 32.5%, while the water supply and materials recovery sector grew by 4.7%. However, not all sectors shared in this positive trend. The electricity supply sector contracted slightly, with a decrease of 0.9% during the same month.
Within the manufacturing sector, the production of furniture and other manufacturing, alongside the repair and installation of machinery and equipment, rose by 10.3%. Additionally, wood products, excluding furniture, increased by 9.3%, and basic metals and fabricated metal products saw an 8.9% rise.
Yet, there were some areas of decline. The manufacturing of textiles, wearing apparel, and leather products fell by 1.2%, as did the production of paper and paper products.
Looking at the cumulative data for the year to date, the manufacturing of other non-metallic mineral products has been the standout performer, increasing by 13.3% from January to November 2025. Basic metals and fabricated metal products also grew by 8.7%, with wood and cork products experiencing an 8.6% rise.
Mining and quarrying activities have maintained a positive trajectory, showing a 7.3% increase, followed closely by water collection, treatment, and supply at 7.0%. In contrast, the manufacturing of paper and paper products faced a significant downturn, plummeting by 10.3% over the same timeframe. The textiles, wearing apparel, and leather products sector saw a decrease of 5.4% between January and November 2025.
Overall, the electricity supply sector has recorded a decline of 1.8% compared to the same period in 2024. The dynamics within the industrial sectors of Cyprus reflect a mixed bag of growth and contraction, with manufacturing leading the charge in positive changes.
