The University of Nicosia (UNIC) has achieved a remarkable feat by ranking in the global Top 600 in the Times Higher Education (THE) Sustainability Impact Ratings 2026. This prestigious ranking places UNIC within the 401-600 band globally, amidst a competitive field of 1,646 universities from 116 countries and territories, evaluated across 17 individual Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and one overall ranking.

Securing this position not only reinforces UNIC’s reputation as a leading higher-education institution in the region but also highlights its growing international presence. Notably, UNIC stands proud as one of the few universities from Cyprus and Greece to be included in this elite band, showcasing its commitment to sustainability and social responsibility.

Strong Performances Across Key Areas

The latest results indicate that UNIC excelled particularly in SDG 10: Reduced Inequalities, SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities, and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals, where it ranked impressively in the 101-200 band globally. Additionally, the university achieved a commendable 301-400 ranking in SDG 3: Good Health and Wellbeing and SDG 16: Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions.
