- A fire broke out in the kitchen of a two-story house in Strovolos on Friday afternoon, resulting in two children being taken to the hospital as a precaution.
At approximately 12:30 PM on 29th August, the Fire Department received reports of a blaze in the first-floor kitchen. Responding swiftly, two fire engines arrived on the scene to tackle the fire that had caused extensive damage.
The kitchen and its equipment suffered significant destruction, with smoke affecting the paintwork throughout the building. Firefighters, equipped with breathing apparatus, entered the property to extinguish the flames.
Fortunately, the residents had evacuated the house before the Fire Service arrived. However, two young children were taken by ambulance to the Accident & Emergency Department of Nicosia Hospital due to concerns over smoke inhalation.
Following the incident, an investigation was initiated in cooperation with the Electromechanical Services Department. Preliminary findings suggest that the fire originated from an electrical fault in an appliance.
