The incident occurred on Saturday, 20 December, around 9:00 AM, on Anexartisias Street, where the assault took place. According to reports from the British Bases Police, a routine patrol led to the discovery of a suspicious boat carrying two individuals.
When officers attempted to approach the vessel for a routine check, the suspects accelerated in an apparent bid to flee. This prompted a swift response, with authorities calling in the Larnaca Port and Marine Police for assistance.
The chase unfolded over the water, showcasing the urgent and coordinated efforts of the police to apprehend the fleeing suspects. Eventually, the authorities successfully immobilised the boat, leading to the arrest of the two men.
Following their capture, procedures began for the transfer of the brothers from the British Bases to the Republic of Cyprus authorities. They are expected to face court proceedings in relation to the attempted murder charge.
