This summer, the Republic of Cyprus welcomed a nurturing initiative for youth through the successful completion of the Hope for Children Summer School 2025, focused on empowering adolescents aged 12 to 16.
Empowering Youth through Skill Development
Now in its third year, the Hope for Children Summer School ran in Nicosia and Limassol, offering a variety of workshops and discussions aimed at developing leadership and communication skills. The programme not only provided educational tools, but addressed critical issues such as children’s rights, cyberbullying, diversity, racism, and hate speech. By fostering dialogue on these important topics, the initiative aimed to cultivate a more inclusive future for all children in Cyprus.
Engaging Activities and Community Support
This year’s programme saw sessions hosted at the European University Cyprus in Nicosia and the Limassol municipal centre for social programmes. The latter was supported by the municipality’s ‘Free Hands’ initiative, along with the Andrey and Julia Dashin Foundation. Participants engaged in a blend of workshops, hands-on activities, and discussions that encouraged them to think critically about the world around them.
Among the highlights, students visited the Paradox Museum and the planetarium, which provided fun learning experiences outside the classroom. They also had the unique opportunity to meet Paralympic archer Christos Missos and learn from members of the Ifestos Sports Club, gaining insights into the challenges faced by athletes with disabilities. Such encounters not only broadened their understanding but also helped foster empathy and inclusion through meaningful dialogue.

As the programme wrapped up, participants were encouraged to join Hope For Children’s young ambassadors network. This initiative gives them the platform to amplify their voices in advocacy, promoting a safer and more inclusive society for children across Cyprus.
