- The Globe of Death acrobatic show has been banned from the Limassol seafront due to safety concerns and non-compliance with licensing requirements.
A court order was issued following a thorough inspection by the Cyprus Fire Service, which deemed the structure unsuitable for public use. The Limassol Municipal Council had initially granted permission for the show to operate at the Molos area, contingent on the applicant fulfilling all necessary safety protocols and acquiring the proper operating licence.
Despite being informed of these conditions in advance, the applicant was found to have failed to meet them during a same-day inspection by municipal services. This raised significant alarms regarding the safe operation of the installation, leading to the municipality’s decision to act decisively.
To safeguard public safety, the municipality sought the intervention of the District Court, which promptly issued an order prohibiting the staging, use, and operation of the Globe of Death at the designated area. The police have been notified and will ensure that the ban is enforced.
As Limassol prepares for the three-day Kataklysmos period, the municipality has urged the public to remain vigilant. They highlighted that no operating licence has been secured for the show, encouraging community members to consider their safety while enjoying the festivities.
