In an open letter, the grieving couple expressed their frustration over the lack of official communication three months after Yiannis, a transplant recipient, died unexpectedly at Nicosia general hospital. They believe that while the inquiry’s conclusions have been reached, the results have yet to be disclosed.

The Lambitsis family pointed out that a doctor employed at the same hospital could struggle to fairly assess potential medical errors involving colleagues, leading to worries about a culture of impunity among medical staff.
Specific concerns were highlighted regarding Yiannis’ treatment prior to his death. He had visited the hospital’s emergency services four times, suffering from a high fever and severe discomfort before being admitted. The parents firmly stated that they are not seeking favour but rather justice, demanding “documented answers, here and now.”
