- On Sunday, a court issued an eight-day remand order against the suspect, allowing authorities to continue their investigation into the stabbing.
The incident unfolded on November 19 at approximately 6.15pm, outside a kiosk situated on the main road in Konia. Witnesses reported that a confrontation occurred between the two men, which authorities believe may have been premeditated.
Earlier that day, the victim’s girlfriend had contacted the police to report that her vehicle’s tyres had been damaged, allegedly by the 26-year-old, who is thought to be her former partner. This prior incident appears to have escalated tensions leading to the fatal confrontation.
The 58-year-old suspect is the father of the victim’s girlfriend. Following an argument outside the kiosk, he reportedly produced a knife and stabbed the younger man multiple times before fleeing the scene.
Emergency services rushed the victim to the accident and emergency department of Paphos general hospital. Unfortunately, his condition deteriorated, and he was transferred to the intensive care unit of a private hospital in Limassol, where he succumbed to his injuries.
