The municipality of Paphos continues its regular operations without interruptions, as confirmed by deputy mayor Angelos Onisiforou on Wednesday. He expressed a hopeful outlook for the city’s future in light of recent events.

Onisiforou stated that the municipal council is committed to implementing measures that will benefit the community, emphasising a collaborative approach. “We are working together for the betterment of Paphos,” he remarked.
In light of the serious allegations against mayor Phedonas Phedonos, which include domestic violence and rape, Onisiforou urged for calm within the city. He expressed full confidence in the judiciary system, describing it as “the only ones competent to investigate the allegations.”
His plea extended to the media, asking for a neutral stance to prevent escalating tensions. “Paphos needs calm, unity, and meaningful work,” Onisiforou stated, highlighting the importance of stability in the community during these challenging times.
The allegations against Phedonos surfaced in late January, drawing significant media attention. Since then, Phedonos’s wife has publicly defended him, vehemently rejecting the accusations and calling for the police to halt their investigations.
Despite the turmoil, the municipal operations remain unaffected, with Onisiforou assuring residents that the council’s work continues uninterrupted. “We are here to serve the people of Paphos. Our focus remains on delivering services and ensuring the well-being of our community,” he added.
