In contrast, the Israel Prison Service has labelled these claims as “false” and asserted that their operations comply with legal standards, ensuring the safety and health of all inmates. Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir also denied any assault had occurred but expressed no remorse, stating he was “proud” that Barghouti’s prison conditions had deteriorated.
