strovolos stabbing — The manhunt continues for the suspect in the Strovolos stabbing of his wife and mother-in-law. The 35-year-old man is currently at large, and investigators from CID Nicosia are broadening their search to various locations where he may be hiding. Authorities have labelled him dangerous.
Previously, the suspect had been evading law enforcement since February due to an outstanding domestic violence case. The recent attack took place last Saturday, when he allegedly stabbed his wife, aged 38, and her mother, aged 58, inside their home in Strovolos. Both victims are in serious but stable condition and are currently hospitalised at Nicosia General Hospital.
As the search for the suspect intensifies, police patrols are actively looking in multiple areas, utilising his photograph to assist in identification efforts. The Bi-Communal Committee has also been alerted, allowing for the possibility of the suspect being apprehended in the occupied territories and subsequently handed over to the authorities of the Republic.
Notably, the wife had been previously identified by the police as a victim within the family context, which led her to download the “ELPIS” app on her phone. This application is designed for individuals facing domestic violence, providing a panic button feature for emergencies. However, despite the circumstances leading to the stabbing, she did not activate the app’s alert system.
The exact motives behind the attack remain unclear, and authorities are awaiting detailed statements from both victims to shed light on the situation. It is anticipated that these statements will help clarify not only the events of the stabbing but also the whereabouts of the suspect.
