Firefighters Have Successfully Contained A Wildfire That
Firefighters have successfully contained a wildfire that threatened homes in the Tsada and Koili area, according to Marios Ioannou, head of the Tsada community council. Ground forces and air support were deployed to battle the blaze, which drew close to the Tsada-Koili-Tala main core and the new Saint Elias chapel perched atop a nearby hill.
The rapid spread of the wildfire was exacerbated by strong winds and thick vegetation, posing significant challenges to the firefighting efforts. Local officials and residents rallied to support the fire service and the forestry department, deploying all available resources to safeguard the community.

Ioannou praised the quick response from firefighters, stating that their efforts were instrumental in saving numerous houses near Tsada. He expressed gratitude for their dedication, especially considering that at least one resident had to be evacuated after initially refusing to leave his home.
The blaze consumed dry weeds and shrubbery, highlighting the risk of wildfires in the region, particularly with the current environmental conditions. Ioannou noted the difficult terrain which hindered ground crews’ ability to manoeuvre effectively, yet they persevered in their mission to protect the community.
As the situation stabilises, the residents of Tsada can breathe a sigh of relief, knowing that their homes and the cherished Saint Elias chapel were safeguarded from the flames. The community continues to support one another, reflecting a spirit of resilience in the face of natural calamities.
