- The National Guard has conducted the first acceptance tests of the new TAMNAVA multiple rocket launchers procured from Serbia, showcasing the system's capabilities on Cypriot soil.
These acceptance firings took place at the Kition Firing Range, where Serbian specialists were present to assist with the examination process last Wednesday. Acceptance tests are critical, allowing the National Guard to evaluate the functionality of new systems before bringing them into service.
Prior to this, Cypriot gunners travelled to Serbia last summer for training on handling the TAMNAVA systems, where they engaged in firings that provided essential hands-on experience. According to sources familiar with the matter, the initial conclusions regarding the performance of the TAMNAVA are deemed excellent.
Tamnava: Advanced Technology and Enhanced Capabilities
The TAMNAVA multiple rocket launcher is a sophisticated, fully automated system that stands out for its high operational value. This advanced technology offers notable mobility and effectiveness, which are crucial for modern military operations.
One of the system’s key features is its ability to be configured by gunners to launch larger calibre missiles, achieving a range of up to 70 kilometres. This capability effectively transforms the TAMNAVA into a strategic weapon, enhancing the firepower available to the National Guard.
Operational Independence and Modernisation
Another significant advantage of the TAMNAVA is its operational independence. The system can function as an autonomous fire unit without the need for a Fire Direction Centre, enabling quick and flexible responses to various mission demands.
The integration of the TAMNAVA multiple rocket launcher represents a substantial step forward in the continuous modernisation efforts of the National Guard. It significantly enhances the operational readiness and deterrent power of the force, ensuring that it remains prepared to address contemporary security challenges.
