He stated, “the rise in crime and the need for more substantial policing and strengthening society’s sense of security make it imperative.”
During his address on Saturday, Fitiris outlined his vision for a modernised police force, highlighting the importance of structured dialogue with all stakeholders. He believes this approach will allow for the incorporation of various perspectives, facilitating the development of solutions that boost operational readiness and overall effectiveness.
“This modernisation will result from a substantive and structured institutional dialogue, within the framework of which the views and suggestions of all parties involved will be heard,” he noted. The Justice Minister is keen to ensure that police personnel receive better support to perform their duties with professionalism and balance.

Fitiris described the planned arrangements for modernising the police as dynamic and subject to continuous monitoring. He assured that any identified need for improvements or adjustments would be addressed promptly. “I hope this process will be completed by the end of April,” he added.
