Demosthenous was shot whilst travelling in a car driven by his son on a road near his home, according to philenews. A van blocked their path, stopped in front of them, and its occupants began shooting at the businessman, police sources said.

In a frantic attempt to save his father, his son immediately drove him towards a hospital. Unfortunately, a traffic accident occurred en route, immobilising their vehicle on the motorway.

After the crash, the son flagged down a passing car, pleading for help, and the driver took them to Limassol General Hospital. Tragically, upon arrival, Demosthenous was pronounced dead. Sources indicated that he had been shot in the head.

Major crime units from Limassol CID and the Police Headquarters Criminal Investigation Department swiftly arrived at the scene to begin collecting evidence. A coordinated operation is underway across all Limassol police divisions to locate the perpetrators, and a crisis centre has been established at Limassol Police Headquarters.

In a significant development, police discovered a burnt van in the Germasogeia area, believed to be the getaway vehicle used by the assailants. The area has been cordoned off and is under thorough examination.

According to sources, after setting the van ablaze, the suspects fled on a black high-powered scooter-type motorcycle. A helicopter has been deployed to search the surrounding area in the wake of the incident.
