cyprus airport — cyprus airport — A 24-year-old man was arrested at an airport in northern Cyprus after authorities found four embryos in his luggage. The incident occurred as he attempted to leave the territory, leading to charges of violating laws concerning the transplantation of human cells, tissues, and organs.

According to reports from Kibris Postasi, the embryos were discovered on Saturday when the suspect was passing through security checks at the illegal airport. The embryos were stored in four separate tubes inside a specialised container labelled “Life Pack,” complete with a reference number.

The embryos, which were reportedly taken from an IVF centre operating in the area without proper authorisation, were confiscated as evidence. Following the discovery, the man was placed into custody for two days, during which he appeared before the district court in Nicosia. The court subsequently issued a remand order.

During the court proceedings, the police investigator revealed that the suspect willingly provided a statement regarding the incident. The legal ramifications of transporting human embryos without consent from relevant authorities underscore the serious nature of the charges he now faces.
