Eleven new charging points have been set up at a cost of €918,000, according to a statement released by the transport ministry on Wednesday.
Transport Minister Alexis Vafeades emphasised the importance of developing suitable infrastructure to support the transition to electric mobility. “The transition to electric mobility requires the development of appropriate infrastructure throughout Cyprus,” he stated, reflecting the government’s commitment to promoting sustainable transport options.
Fast-chargers: Strategically Placed Charging Points
The newly installed charging points are strategically located at various sites, including:
- The carparks at the Nicosia General Hospital
- The Limassol General Hospital
- A church in Trimiklini
- The Tombs of the Kings bus station in Paphos
This diverse placement aims to provide accessible charging options for electric vehicle users throughout the island.
Modern Charging Features
These fast-charging points are equipped with rapid charging capabilities, allowing for a quick and efficient charging experience. Users can conveniently access the service through various methods, including a mobile phone application or payment cards, making the process user-friendly and adaptable to different preferences.
Future Developments on the Horizon
The transport ministry has indicated that further development of the electric vehicle charging network is underway. The Department of Electromechanical Services is currently coordinating additional installations to expand the existing infrastructure, showcasing the government’s dedication to advancing electric mobility across Cyprus.
