Changes Announced by the CSE
On Friday, the CSE revealed alterations to the composition of its main indices, implementing these changes under Rule 2.2 of the Ground Rules for the Management of the CSE Indices. The data considered for these adjustments is based on figures applicable from January 8, 2026.
EUROBANK’s Impact on the Indices
EUROBANK S.A. will now feature in both the CSE General Index and the CSE Main Market Index, with a weight coefficient set at 67 per cent. This inclusion marks a notable shift in the indices’ landscape.
Weight Capping for Major Shares
The CSE has established weight caps to ensure diversified representation within the indices. For the CSE General Index, any share exceeding 25 per cent of the total index weight will be capped at that level. Consequently, the share of Bank of Cyprus Holdings Plc is assigned a weight factor of 0.103565, while EUROBANK S.A. will have a weight of 0.032334.
Additionally, DEMETRA HOLDINGS PLC will see its current weight factor removed, as its participation has fallen below the 25 per cent threshold.
Adjustments in the CSE Main Market Index
Similar adjustments are observed in the CSE Main Market Index, where shares exceeding 30 per cent of the index total will also be capped. The Bank of Cyprus Holdings Plc will carry a weight factor of 0.078274, and EUROBANK S.A. will have a weight factor of 0.024438.
In this instance, the weight factors for both DEMETRA HOLDINGS PLC and LOGICOM PUBLIC LTD will be removed from the CSE Main Market Index, reflecting their reduced participation.
