- A young pedestrian was injured in Limassol on Saturday night after being struck by a passing vehicle whose driver fled the scene without stopping.
The incident took place at approximately 8.46 pm on 11 July 2026, at the junction of Ayias Fylaxeos Avenue and 1st April Street. According to reports from RoadReportCY, the victim, a man under 25 years of age, was attempting to cross the road when he was hit by the vehicle, resulting in him being thrown heavily onto the road.
Eyewitnesses reported hearing a loud noise and then saw the pedestrian lying on the road. One witness mentioned that while they did not see the exact moment of impact, they believed the vehicle involved was white and suggested that the pedestrian may have been struck by its side mirror before falling onto the asphalt.
Following the collision, the driver did not stop but immediately left the area. In an effort to gather more information, the RoadReportCY post called for anyone who was in the vicinity around the time of the incident to contact the police. They specifically requested assistance from those who may have seen the collision, noticed the fleeing vehicle, or possess dashcam footage from Ayias Fylaxeos Avenue or 1st April Street.
Fortunately, individuals who rushed to help the injured man found that he remained conscious and was able to communicate with rescuers. Witnesses observed that he appeared to have used his hands to break his fall, which possibly helped him avoid a more serious head injury.
Emergency services arrived shortly thereafter, with an ambulance on the scene providing first aid. The paramedics assessed the young man before transporting him for further medical examinations. Police later confirmed that he was discharged after receiving treatment.
