The decrease can be largely attributed to significant reductions in heavy and light fuel oil, which saw a dramatic drop of 100 per cent and 70.6 per cent respectively. Additionally, asphalt sales declined by 11.5 per cent, while liquefied petroleum gases fell by 4.2 per cent. Other products also reported lower sales, including road diesel (-1.8 per cent), heating gasoil (-1.7 per cent), and motor gasoline (-0.1 per cent).
Conversely, there were notable increases in marine gasoil provisions, which surged by 41.4 per cent year-on-year, and aviation kerosene, which climbed by 12.8 per cent.

When comparing August 2025 to July of the same year, total sales of petroleum products experienced a more pronounced monthly drop of 14.8 per cent. Marine gasoil provisions fell by 35.2 per cent, road diesel by 20.2 per cent, and motor gasoline by 8.7 per cent. However, aviation kerosene managed a small increase of 1.5 per cent during the same period.
By the end of August, petroleum product stocks had decreased by 9.6 per cent compared to the previous month. Despite the declines in August, sales during the first eight months of 2025 showed a positive trend, rising by 3.8 per cent year-on-year, amounting to 993,548 tonnes.
