According to reports, the bus left the road due to challenging weather conditions, which have been a concern in the region. There were 23 individuals on board at the time of the accident, all of whom were part of the sports delegation.

Following the overturn, swift action was taken. The Estonian Handball Federation confirmed that two members of the Cypriot delegation were transported to Tartu University Hospital for precautionary medical examinations.
