He welcomed attendees and delivered several announcements, highlighting the Club’s expanding membership, which now includes the Cyprus Shipping Chamber (CSC) and SHOHAM as Corporate Members, alongside Mar Pagador and Ilya Aristov as Individual Members. With these new additions, total membership has reached an impressive 162.
Hamatsos also confirmed an Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM) scheduled for December 2, 2025. Following the EGM, attendees can look forward to a presentation and dinner featuring Dieter Rohdenburg, CEO of Intership Navigation, who will discuss “Carbon Capture On Board.”

The evening progressed with a presentation from the Cyprus Maritime Academy (CYMA), where Kyriakos Patsalides and Nicholas Kythreotis unveiled the Academy’s latest achievement: its accreditation by the Shipping Deputy Ministry to offer upgrading courses for Masters/Chief Mates and Chief Engineers/Second Engineers. This new authorisation allows deck and engine officers to complete their advancement training at CYMA, facilitating progression to senior ranks on board—a significant step for maritime education in Cyprus.
Although Shipping Deputy Minister Marina Hadjimanolis was expected to attend, she was unable to join due to unforeseen personal reasons. However, several representatives from the Shipping Deputy Ministry were present, underscoring the Ministry’s continued support for maritime initiatives.
