During their tripartite meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron at the Andreas Papandreou airbase in Paphos, Mitsotakis praised the Kimon as the “pride of the Greek fleet.” This phrase was also echoed in his address to the Greek parliament last week, emphasising the significance of naval strength in the current climate.
Alongside the Kimon, Greece has stationed a second frigate, the Psara, in the same strategic waters. Additionally, four Greek F-16 fighter jets have been positioned in Paphos for a week, demonstrating a robust air presence.
