The report highlighted varied developments across different services and employee categories. Notably, employment in the civil service and security forces saw declines of 0.9 per cent and 0.4 per cent, respectively. Conversely, the educational service experienced a notable increase of 1.8 per cent.
Permanent vs Hourly Workers
When analysing the changes in employee categories, the most significant growth was seen among permanent employees, who increased by 0.4 per cent. In contrast, hourly paid workers faced a decrease of 0.7 per cent, indicating a shift in the government’s employment structure.
Educational Service Leads Growth
Within the educational service, staff on indefinite contracts saw a remarkable increase of 23.5 per cent. This surge underscores the ongoing demand for stability in educational roles amid fluctuating employment conditions.
Security Forces Face Contract Challenges
On the other hand, the security forces recorded a significant drop among employees on definite-duration contracts, which plummeted by 74 per cent. Cystat attributed this decline primarily to the completion and non-renewal of specific contracts that occurred in July 2025.
