The rescue operation was initiated by the Joint Rescue Coordination Centre at 2.20 PM in the Ayios Georgios Alaminou area. The plan, named Nearchos, mobilised a variety of resources including speed boats from the port and naval police, the navy’s underwater disasters unit, and a helicopter.
After a thorough search lasting just over an hour, the individual was identified and pulled from the water at approximately 3.30 PM by the crew of a port police boat. This swift action ensured that the man received timely assistance.
