cypriots tanzania — cypriots tanzania — Efforts are ongoing to bring home 22 Cypriots trapped in Tanzania, as confirmed by Theodoros Gotsis, a spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Nicosia. The group includes fourteen teenage students from a private school in Nicosia, who are in Tanzania volunteering.

The students are accompanied by four adults and are reportedly safe, located far from the areas affected by ongoing unrest. Gotsis stated that the ministry is in contact with the parents of the students, ensuring their peace of mind during this challenging time.

To facilitate the safe return of all 22 individuals, coordination is taking place between the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) in Nairobi and the crisis management centre in Nicosia. Efforts are also being made to engage with the European Union delegation in Tanzania to assist in the repatriation process.

Gotsis has urged any other Cypriots currently in Tanzania to reach out to the ministry for assistance. On Friday, the foreign ministry issued a travel advisory warning Cypriot citizens to exercise caution when travelling to Tanzania due to the current unrest in the region.

Those already in Tanzania have been instructed to contact the high commission in Kenya at +254 111051430 or via email at [email protected] and [email protected]. In Cyprus, citizens can reach the ministry at +357 22 651113, +357 22 801000, or +357 97 775998.
