Simultaneously, Larnaca saw its own gathering, which began at 6:00 p.m. at Europe Square, also known as Finikoudes. This location quickly filled with supporters, all united under the same cause. In Paphos, protesters gathered at Municipal Hall Square, or Platia Dimotikou Megarou, starting at 5:30 p.m.
Police presence was noted across all three locations to ensure that the events proceeded smoothly. Authorities are prepared to assist the public and uphold order during the demonstrations. An official statement highlighted that according to the Public Gatherings and Processions Law 151(I) of 2025, organisers are responsible for maintaining a peaceful atmosphere and must work in conjunction with local authorities and police.
Under this legislation, police have the authority to impose restrictions or disperse gatherings if unrest is detected or if there is a threat to public safety. Furthermore, in instances where participants obscure their identities, officers can demand the removal of any items that conceal their faces.
The protests reflect a growing solidarity movement within Cyprus, as citizens rally to voice their support for Palestinians amidst ongoing international tensions. With various groups participating, the events signify a unified stance on humanitarian issues.
