- A 21-year-old Israeli is facing charges of attempted murder after allegedly injuring three people during a brawl outside a bar in Ayia Napa.
The incident occurred at approximately 4:30 am on Wednesday on Louka Louka street, where police responded to reports of a violent altercation involving two Israeli men and a Cypriot man. Tensions escalated when two Cypriot security guards from a nearby nightclub intervened, prompting the 21-year-old suspect to allegedly draw a knife.
During the fracas, the Israeli man is accused of stabbing the two guards and the Cypriot man he had been arguing with. On arrival, police discovered four individuals with injuries, all of whom were transported to Famagusta General Hospital in Paralimni.
One of the security guards, aged 22, suffered a stab wound to the abdomen and underwent surgery, with his condition reported as serious. The other guard, aged 25, along with the 41-year-old Cypriot man, sustained minor injuries and were retained in the hospital for treatment. Additionally, the suspect’s 22-year-old friend was hospitalised after being struck on the head during the incident.
Upon locating the suspect at the scene, officers encountered a hostile response, leading to his arrest for public insult, causing alarm, and disturbing the peace. Investigators seized a knife believed to be used in the attack as evidence, and CCTV footage from the area is currently being reviewed. Police plan to interview all involved parties once their medical conditions permit, to gain clarity on the events leading up to the altercation.
