The innovative facility will feature cutting-edge technology supplied by Safran, a leading global aerospace manufacturer. Notably, it will be the first of its kind in Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and Asia, utilising a design that replaces traditional overhead cranes with an automated “Spider” manoeuvrability system. UAMCO anticipates that the facility will test approximately 250 aircraft engines annually.
Aircraft engine test cells play a critical role in the aviation sector, enabling the testing, evaluation, and certification of engines under controlled environments following maintenance and repair. This new project is part of UAMCO’s broader strategy to enhance its existing Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) operations in Cyprus.
The architectural and engineering design for the facility will be managed by DMA Architects-Engineers, a well-established firm based in Larnaca with over 40 years of experience in the field. Main construction efforts will be undertaken by GECO Constructions, a company founded in 2005 by Giorgos Savva and Konstantinos Savva.
