The tender notice has been officially published on the Republic of Cyprus’ eProcurement platform, making it accessible to interested parties. The transport ministry first revealed plans for the port expansion in early 2025, detailing a comprehensive project that will feature the construction of nine new berths, breakwaters, a deepened approach channel, and improved land use in the port area.
This ambitious project aims to establish Vasiliko as a central infrastructure hub for Cyprus, integrating commercial, energy, military, and environmental operations. Upon completion, the port is expected to accommodate around five vessels daily, translating to approximately 1,770 ships annually.
In addition to the substantial investment from the ports authority, the modernisation project is set to receive €18,781,957 from the European Union’s Connecting Europe Facility (CEF), with the first phase alone budgeted at €85 million.
