The Criminal Court in Paphos delivered the sentence on Monday, with the defendant admitting to the act. At the time of the shooting, the victim was 46 years old and suffered serious injuries that required hospitalisation.
Following the incident, the couple divorced, but the legal proceedings continued. The defendant expressed remorse, calling the police himself to report the shooting and indicating his regret for his actions.
During the court hearing, it was revealed that the man had taken steps to compensate his wife and her family. He paid a total of €130,000 to the victim, along with €10,000 to her lawyer and €21,000 for their minor daughter. Additionally, he transferred ownership of an apartment registered in his daughter’s name and agreed not to pursue rights over two other apartments as part of the compensation.
