international day — The ancient practice of yoga will take centre stage in Paphos this June as the city gears up for the 12th International Day of Yoga celebration. Organised by the International Council of Music and Ancient Cultures (ICMACY) under the auspices of the High Commission of India in Nicosia, this event promises a vibrant evening of wellness and cultural exchange.

Scheduled for June 20 at the picturesque Chlorakas Amphitheatre, the celebration invites individuals of all ages and skill levels to partake in a unique experience that blends yoga, music, and sound healing.

The festivities kick off with a welcome address, followed by a complimentary 45-minute open yoga session led by The Art of Living. Participants need not worry about bringing their own mats, as they will be provided on-site. The amphitheatre’s natural stone surroundings create a serene atmosphere, encouraging attendees to bring cushions for added comfort during the session.

As the sun sets, the event transitions into an enchanting live musical journey. Featuring Raga Chikitsa – The Ancient Art of Indian Sound Healing along with The Cross Migration Band, the evening aims to evoke the emotions tied to India’s monsoon season through music. This year’s highlighted raga, Megh Malhar, is renowned for its associations with serenity, renewal, and emotional equilibrium. The performance is designed to unfold like a narrative, encompassing the sounds of distant storms, refreshing rain, and the warmth of sunlight.

The celebration showcases not only the physical benefits of yoga but also its role in fostering community and connection. With the High Commissioner of India, Manish, in attendance, the event underscores the importance of cultural diplomacy and the shared values that yoga represents.

Tickets for the musical segment are priced at €15, and attendees can expect an evening that nurtures both body and spirit. To learn more about this inspiring event, visit www.icmacy.org/yogaday2026/.
