The completion of the first phase of renovations includes a new service building and a photovoltaic system, which Ioannou described as an “important step towards the overall upgrade.” The next phase will focus on remodelling the interior spaces and enhancing energy efficiency, ensuring the facility meets contemporary standards for years to come.

In his address, Ioannou also revealed future plans aimed at modernising other sporting facilities. This initiative is designed to benefit both professional athletes and amateurs, promoting the values of fair play and competition.

Yiannos Ioannou, president of the Cyprus Sports Organisation (KOA), reinforced the commitment to investing in sports. “We invest in sports because we believe that every euro spent is an investment in the future of the younger generations, their well-being and health,” he remarked. He mentioned recent projects, including the completion of the Larnaca Olympic swimming pool and ongoing upgrades to Limassol pools.
Looking Ahead with New Facilities
In addition to the renovations at the Nicosia pool, the KOA announced a full subsidy for the Aglandjia pool, which will serve as the headquarters of the Nicosia special school. This initiative is being funded by the finance and energy ministries, showcasing a broader commitment to enhancing sports infrastructure across the region.
