Installed on Stasikratous street and 28th October street in Engomi on Friday, these devices are positioned in areas frequented by the public, ensuring quick access when every second counts during a cardiac emergency.
Nicosia’s mayor, Charalambos Prountzos, emphasised the importance of these installations, calling them a significant investment in saving lives. He stated, “The installation of defibrillators in central and high-traffic areas is an important investment in the protection of human life,” highlighting that response time can be critical in such emergencies.
The municipality has reiterated its commitment to enhancing public health and safety through this initiative, which is part of broader efforts to foster social solidarity within the community.
The Rotary Club of Nicosia Lefkothea and the non-profit organisation Spiritus Invictus Foundation played a crucial role in the project, providing both the equipment and access boxes necessary for the defibrillators.
With these additions, Nicosia continues to advance its mission of becoming a safer city, better prepared to respond to its citizens’ health needs.
