- myhealth cy — The newly launched myHealth@CY mobile application offers users immediate access to their personal health data, marking a significant advancement in digital health for Cyprus.
Health Minister Michael Damianos unveiled the app on Tuesday, emphasising its strategic importance in enhancing public health services. “This app will provide the public with immediate and secure access to their personal medical data,” he stated, highlighting the government’s commitment to improving healthcare transparency and quality.
Deputy Innovation Minister Nicodemos Damianou noted that the app is a key component of the government’s broader digital transformation strategy. Despite Cyprus experiencing a 10 per cent increase in digital health access projected for 2025, the country still lags behind the EU average. The introduction of myHealth@CY is seen as a vital step towards bridging this gap.
The initial phase of the app will integrate cross-border EU health services, enabling users to access their medical summaries and e-prescriptions by summer 2026. This integration is expected to significantly streamline healthcare processes and improve patient outcomes.
Looking ahead, a second phase will connect the app with the national health system (Gesy), ultimately leading to the creation of a comprehensive electronic health record for citizens. Minister Damianos emphasised the collaboration between the national electronic health authority, the health insurance organisation (HIO), and telecommunications provider Cyta as essential to the project’s success.
Damianou also remarked on the initiative’s potential to build on the success of Gesy, aligning with the government’s efforts to responsibly introduce artificial intelligence into public services. He mentioned that AI tools will soon assist in patient care and enhance the digital AI Assistant, which will provide health-related guidance.
Throughout the launch, Minister Damianos reaffirmed his dedication to supporting initiatives that modernise health services through technology. He expressed optimism that the introduction of the myHealth@CY app would pave the way for further innovations, positioning Cyprus as a leader in digital health.
