A 47-year-old man was remanded in custody after police discovered approximately 60g of crystal meth during a patrol in western Limassol.

- Following the admission, the man appeared before the district court on Saturday. The court remanded him in custody for five days while investigations continue into the matter.
The arrest took place around 1.30pm on Friday when officers from the Limassol crime prevention unit stopped the suspect’s vehicle for a check while conducting routine patrols in a village within the district.
Upon approaching the vehicle, officers conducted a search and found a zip-lock bag containing over 2g of crystal meth on the individual. Further investigation of the vehicle revealed a concealed bag containing about 59g of the drug.
In addition to the drug possession, police noted that the suspect was driving with an expired learner’s permit. After his arrest, he was taken to the Limassol offices of the drug squad (Ykan), where he confessed that the drugs were his.
Following the admission, the man appeared before the district court on Saturday. The court remanded him in custody for five days while investigations continue into the matter.
