one-way streets — Limassol’s traffic landscape is set to change significantly with the introduction of one-way streets and a new speed limit of 30km/h, effective from 29 October 2025. This initiative is part of the city’s Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan (SUMP), which aims to create a more efficient and safer urban environment.
- As this transition approaches, residents and commuters in Limassol are encouraged to familiarise themselves with the new traffic layout to ensure a smooth adjustment to the changes.
The Limassol Municipality announced these changes, which will implement one-way systems on key roads within the city centre. The decision has been taken in coordination with the Cyprus Police Chief and adheres to the Limassol Municipal Regulations of 2006.
One-way streets: New Traffic Flow Arrangements
Under the new traffic regulations, Emmanuel Roidis Street will adopt a one-way system from its junction with Griva Digeni Avenue to Agias Zonis Street. Vehicles will only be allowed to travel from Griva Digeni towards Agias Zonis, streamlining traffic flow in this busy area.
Similarly, Theklas Lysiotis Street and Evagorou Papachristophorou Street will also become one-way from their junction with Agias Zonis Street to Griva Digeni Avenue, allowing traffic to move only from Agias Zonis towards Griva Digeni.
Speed Limit Reductions for Safety
In conjunction with the new one-way systems, speed limits on all affected roads will be reduced to 30km/h. This measure is intended to enhance safety for pedestrians and cyclists, aligning with the broader goals of the Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan.
Enforcement and Compliance Measures
The municipality has made it clear that any violations of these new traffic regulations will result in penalties. This enforcement strategy aims to ensure compliance and encourage safe driving practices among all road users.
As this transition approaches, residents and commuters in Limassol are encouraged to familiarise themselves with the new traffic layout to ensure a smooth adjustment to the changes.
