KEO to Construct €25 Million Spirits Bottling Centre in Limassol

The project, which KEO describes as one of the largest private industrial endeavours in Limassol in recent years, is currently awaiting approval from relevant authorities following the submission of an Information Report.

Once planning and building permits are obtained, construction will commence, with an estimated timeline of 24 months to completion. During this period, the initiative is expected to generate up to 50 direct jobs, providing a boost to the local economy.

Bottling centre: Strategic Location and Infrastructure

The new centre will occupy a substantial 44,000 square metre site in the Archangelos Michail Parish, conveniently located adjacent to the port’s access road. This strategic positioning will facilitate direct access to Limassol port and the Limassol-Paphos motorway, essential for efficient distribution.

Facility Design and Capacity

The main building will encompass approximately 34,000 square metres spread over three levels. The basement, covering 9,810 square metres, will serve as the primary storage for imported raw materials, beers, and finished products. This area will feature temperature- and humidity-controlled ageing spaces for wines, Commandaria, and Eau de Vie stored in oak barrels.

On the ground floor, which spans 22,840 square metres, operations such as processing, blending, filtering, cooling, and distillation will take place for products including zivania and ouzo. This level will also include warehousing and order preparation spaces for both raw materials and finished goods.

The first floor, measuring 992 square metres, will be dedicated to offices and the administrative centre, streamlining the company’s operational management.

Complementing Existing Operations

This new facility will complement KEO’s existing winery located in Malia, where wines are produced before being transferred to the Kato Polemidia site for final processing and bottling.

KEO plans to import various raw materials, including bulk molasses alcohol, Eau de Vie, and bulk wines, ensuring a diverse range of products. The annual capacity for wine processing and bottling is estimated to range between 1,000 to 2,500 tonnes, contributing to a total expected annual production of approximately 4,975 tonnes across all product lines.

Diverse Product Offering

The new centre will produce a variety of beverages, including:

  • Tetra Pak juices—2,550 tonnes
  • Bottled wines and spirits—870 tonnes
  • Wines in BIB and Tetra Pak format—1,140 tonnes
  • Squashes and PET bottle juices—250 tonnes
  • Canned juices—165 tonnes

As KEO moves forward with this ambitious project, the company aims to enhance its production capabilities while simultaneously contributing to the economic landscape of Limassol.
