The anniversary was marked with a special event held in the courtyard of the Bank of Cyprus Cultural Foundation. The gathering was a vibrant mix of energy, creativity, and individuals united by a shared vision for innovation. Attendees included partners, startup representatives, trainers, and friends of the IDEA Centre.
Reflections from Leadership
IDEA’s Director, Panayiotis Korinos, welcomed the guests and underscored the significance of collaboration between the public and private sectors. He highlighted how IDEA has grown into an essential pillar of innovation in Cyprus. “Our journey has been remarkable, and the support from various sectors has been invaluable,” he stated.
Charis Pouangare, Chairman of the board, reflected on the achievements of the past decade. He noted that IDEA had received more than 1,000 applications, supported over 100 startups, and aided 260 entrepreneurs, contributing to the creation of more than 120 jobs. Pouangare also mentioned IDEA’s recognition by the European Commission with the European Enterprise Promotion Award in 2019, alongside an investment exceeding €4.5 million into the innovation ecosystem of Cyprus.

In his remarks, Pouangare expressed gratitude towards the strategic partners, trainers, mentors, and community members who have supported IDEA throughout its ten years. “We are grateful to our strategic partners, trainers, mentors, and every member of this community for their constant support,” he said, emphasising the collective effort that has driven IDEA’s success.
New Initiatives for Entrepreneurial Well-being
During the evening, IDEA unveiled a new initiative focused on supporting the mental health of entrepreneurs. Named Strong Minds, Strong Startups, this programme recognises that personal empowerment and mental resilience are crucial for the sustainability and growth of businesses.
“IDEA will now invest not only in entrepreneurial knowledge but also in the well-being of the people who put that knowledge into practice,” the announcement stated, signalling a broader commitment to the holistic development of entrepreneurs.
Government Recognition of IDEA’s Impact
Deputy Minister of Innovation Nicodemos Damianou spoke highly of IDEA’s contributions to the growth of Cyprus’ innovation ecosystem. He expressed his pleasure over the progress of startups that have matured through IDEA’s support. “I am pleased with the progress of startups that have matured and are forging their own path,” he noted, emphasising the tangible results achieved through IDEA’s various programmes.
