Officials confirmed the news on Thursday, with Charalambos Charilaou, spokesperson for the State Health Services Organisation (SHSO), providing updates during an interview with the Cyprus Broadcasting Corporation’s (CyBC) “Third” radio programme.
Vassiliou, who is 94 years old, was transferred to the hospital on Tuesday. His five-year presidency from 1988 to 1993 was marked by significant efforts in economic restructuring and a proactive stance on the Cyprus problem.
