A Year of Major Developments
2025 proved to be a landmark year for Eurobank, marked by the completion of its legal merger with Hellenic Bank. This merger led to the establishment of Eurobank Limited, which now stands as the largest banking and insurance organisation in Cyprus, boasting total assets exceeding €28 billion.
Growth in Corporate Banking
The bank reported impressive growth in its corporate banking sector, with its business lending portfolio expanding by approximately 17 per cent during the year. This growth reflects Eurobank’s commitment to supporting the needs of businesses in Cyprus.
Expanding Customer Base
In addition to its corporate achievements, Eurobank has successfully broadened its customer base. As of 2025, the bank serves over 710,000 retail customers and approximately 11,500 business customers in Cyprus.
Digital Transformation Initiatives
Eurobank has also made significant strides in its digital transformation efforts. The bank reported that more than 96 per cent of transactions are now conducted through digital channels, with most financing applications submitted via its mobile application. These advancements are indicative of Eurobank’s dedication to enhancing customer experience through technology.
International Expansion Plans
Looking beyond Cyprus, Eurobank has expanded its international presence by opening its first representative office in India. This strategic move is designed to strengthen business ties between Cyprus and India, positioning Cyprus as a gateway to the European Union for Indian enterprises and investors.
Strategic Importance of the Indian Market
Eurobank’s CEO, Michalis Louis, described the opening of the representative office in India as a “particularly important step.” This development marks the first physical presence of a Greek or Cypriot bank in India, creating new avenues for growth and investment opportunities between India, Cyprus, and Europe.
Insights from Eurobank’s Leadership
Louis commented on the significance of the Euromoney awards, stating, “The Euromoney awards confirm Eurobank’s strong momentum and the successful implementation of our group’s strategy in Cyprus.” He further noted that 2025 was pivotal in creating the largest banking and insurance organisation in the country, enhancing Eurobank’s ability to support households and businesses.
Commitment to Innovation
He added that Eurobank’s accelerated digital transformation, investment in innovation, and efforts to strengthen Cyprus’ position as an international business and financial centre were instrumental in achieving this recognition.
Future Aspirations
Louis expressed pride in the double distinction received from Euromoney, attributing it to the commitment and professionalism of Eurobank’s team, as well as the steadfast support from the Eurobank Group. “This recognition confirms that our choices create value for our customers, the economy, and society,” he concluded, motivating the bank to continue innovating and expanding.
